We feel too little.
We ache to be wholeheartedly loved and not left to feel utterly, deeply alone.
We are those who fear intimacy because we know how vulnerable we are.
I know that I am worthy of love.
I know that I have been loved.
I know that I have been loved by someone who loved me in spite of my flaws.
I know that I have loved in return.
But still there are nights when the feeling of insecurity makes itself known and you wonder if you are worthy of love.

And our fears are real.
They are not imaginary, nor do they disappear when we say the words "I love you."
I believe it is part of my history, my culture.
I know that there are words, and things, in my own history that are unimaginable to me.
But I know that I have loved you.
